Hours & frequency
Sat–Thu: approx. 05:00–01:00
Friday: approx. 09:00–01:00
High frequency at peak times; slightly longer headways off-peak. Hours may change on holidays or big events—check the app or station displays on the day.
Rules & good manners
Respect the three car classes (Standard/Family/Goldclub).
No eating/drinking on platforms or trains; keep stations tidy.
Because of the heat, use the air-conditioned corridors and entrances.
Security is visible; follow staff instructions when needed.
Airport connection
Hamad International Airport T1 sits on the Red Line. Go straight to Msheireb (hub for all lines) and, without transfers, to West Bay/DECC or Lusail.
The master plan foresees extensions on existing corridors and tighter integration with trams and feeder buses to cover growing urban areas—especially north (Lusail) and west (Education City / Mall of Qatar).
What to see with the metro
Souq Waqif (Gold): the traditional market—food, crafts and street art.
West Bay/DECC (Red): skyscrapers, the Corniche and skyline views.
Education City (Green): museums, libraries and parks.
Lusail Marina (Red + Lusail Tram): modern waterfront and marinas.

Thursday nights often run a bit later; Friday starts later in the morning. For large events (sports, concerts) extra trains may run. Always check the app on the day.
Accessibility
Elevators, level boarding and platform screen doors at most stations.
Tactile/visual signage; audible announcements on board.
Staff can assist with transfers and Family areas if needed.
Baggage & lockers
Luggage is allowed if it doesn’t block doors or aisles. Avoid bulky bags at peak times. For left-luggage, use options at the airport or malls near major stations.
Practical tips
Map & app: save the map offline and use the Qatar Rail planner.
Beat the heat: walk through indoor corridors whenever possible.
Metrolink: handy to reach malls and neighbourhoods without a station.
Day cap: with 3–4 rides, the Standard cap is usually best value.
